Wood-burning stoves; stoves burning straw, other agricultural byproducts, grain, etc; and multifuel stoves criteria

Pellet stoves and other units purchased ready-built

  • When properly installed, must be certified as meeting the emissions standards of the US EPA and the Canadian Standards Association (CSA B415).

Masonry heaters and other custom-built units:

  • The builder should demonstrate a track record of installation of such stoves, including a record of emissions control and of combustion efficiency. Stoves burning agricultural products should meet the same standards set out above for wood.
