Household cleaning products criteria
Household cleaning products should meet the requirements set out in Green Seal Standard GS-8
The main requirements set out in this standard are as follows:
- non-toxic to humans when undiluted
- non-toxic to aquatic life when diluted
- no carcinogens, mutagens or reproductive toxins
- non-corrosive to the eye
- easily biodegraded in water
- minimal phosphate content
- low in volatile organic compounds
- no 1-butoxyethanol, alkylphenol ethoxylates, phthalates, heavy metals, ozone-depleting compounds or optical brighteners
- packaged in recyclable packaging.
