Air conditioning

For room air conditioners:

  1. An Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER) of at least 11.0 Btu/Wh (standardised COPc >3.2)

For central air conditioners:

  1. A Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) of at least 22 Btu/Wh (seasonal average COPc > 6.5)

  2. An EER of at least 13 Btu/Wh
    (standardised COPc > 3.8)

No criteria are set at this stage regarding the working fluid used, but a later review of these criteria will take the working fluid's global warming potential into account.

All of these criteria are significantly tougher than those used for Canadian EnergyStar.
