Air conditioning
For room air conditioners:
- An Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER) of at least 11.0 Btu/Wh (standardised COPc >3.2)
For central air conditioners:
A Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) of at least 17.5 Btu/Wh (seasonal average COPc > 5.1)
An EER of at least 12.5 Btu/Wh
(standardised COPc >3.7)
No criteria are set at this stage regarding the working fluid used, but the next review of these criteria will take ozone depletion factors into account.
All of these criteria are significantly tougher than those used for Canadian EnergyStar.
Full current lists of air conditioning units meeting our criteria are included.
